About the Song

“I Wanna Talk About Me” is a country song written and recorded by Toby Keith. It was released in August 2001 as the second single from his album Pull My Chain. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in the United States and number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song is a humorous ode to self-centeredness. The narrator is unapologetically focused on himself and his own interests, and he’s not afraid to let everyone know it. He sings about his love of talking about himself, his good looks, and his many accomplishments.

The song is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but it also strikes a chord with anyone who has ever felt like they’re not getting enough attention. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes and to celebrate your own awesomeness.

Lyric

Yeah, yeahThat’s rightWe talk about your work how your boss is a jerkWe talk about your church and your head when it hurtsWe talk about the troubles you’ve been having with your brotherAbout your daddy and your mother and your crazy ex-loverWe talk about your friends and the places that you’ve beenWe talk about your skin and the dimples on your chinThe polish on your toes and the run in your hoseAnd God knows we’re gonna talk about your clothesYou know talking about you makes me smileBut every once in a while
I want to talk about meWant to talk about IWant to talk about number oneOh my me myWhat I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I seeI like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionallyI want to talk about meI want to talk about me
We talk about your dreams and we talk about your schemesYour high school team and your moisturizer cremeWe talk about your nanna up in Muncie, IndianaWe talk about your grandma down in AlabamaWe talk about your guys of every shape and sizeThe ones that you despise and the ones you idolizeWe talk about your heart, about your brains and your smartsAnd your medical charts and when you startYou know talking about you makes me grinBut every now and then
I want to talk about meWant to talk about IWant to talk about number oneOh my me myWhat I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I seeI like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionallyI want to talk about meI want to talk about me
You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, youI want to talk about me
I want to talk about meWant to talk about IWant to talk about number oneOh my me myWhat I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I seeI like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionallyI want to talk about me (me, me, me, me)I want to talk about me (me, me)I want to talk about me (me, me, me, me)‘Bout me (me, me)
